Three key individual matchups to watch Saturday as Alabama looks to stay alive in the SEC West race in College Station, Texas:
1) Alabama OT Cam Robinson vs. Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett
The Crimson Tide's prized pass protector has played through some injuries this season and hasn't always been at his best. But that's still been better than most left tackles. Garrett, a star sophomore whose quickness as a pass rusher has been proven time and again, will challenge Robinson's athleticism on the edge. Where Robinson will have an advantage on Garrett is in the running game, where he can use his size advantage to his own advantage. The more Jake Coker drops back to pass, the more this matchup will likely favor Garrett.
2) Alabama DB Minkah Fitzpatrick vs. Texas A&M WR Christian Kirk
Fitzpatrick has been outstanding as the nickelback this season as a true freshman, while Kirk, a five-star recruit like Fitzpatrick, has been a major force for the Aggies in the slot receiver position. Kirk is who TAMU quarterback Kyle Allen will be looking for on short throws where the ball comes out quickly -- and there will be a lot of them.
3) Texas A&M OT Germain Ifedi vs. Alabama's defensive line
This will be a matchup of massive linemen as Ifedi (6-5, 325) will look to hold his own against any number of defensive linemen from Alabama that will rotate in front of him depending on the situation. If Ifedi has a bad day, the entire Aggies offensive line figures to have one, too.
