Baltimore Ravens general manager and former Alabama star Ozzie Newsome added some more Crimson to his defense Thursday night in picking linebacker C.J. Mosley with the No. 17 overall pick of the NFL draft. Mosley joins former Tide linebacker Courtney Upshaw in Baltimore now, and said he's thrilled to be joining his former teammate. Had Rolando McClain's comeback attempt to pro football gotten off the ground, there might have been three former UA linebackers in the mix in Baltimore.
Look for Baltimore to work Mosley at inside linebacker in training camp and as a rookie, but don't be surprised if he ends up playing outside linebacker at some point. Mosley is the best pass coverage linebacker Alabama has seen in the entire Nick Saban era. With his ability to sniff out screen passes, cover the flats and make open-field tackles, the Ravens may find Mosley is better off playing in space than filling inside gaps.
